What's the Cost of a Financial Plan?
As a financial planner, I often find out that there are certain questions people have, but they might be reluctant to come out and ask. I want to cover what might be one of the foremost questions about using a fee-based financial planner. The cost of the financial plan and what the plan includes.
What's in a Financial Plan?
There is a rampant misconception of what a financial plan entails. Unfortunately, too often financial advisors or insurance salesmen will use the term financial plan loosely in referring to a simple retirement plan or possibly investment recommendations that are largely product based. Such proposals may include a plan for income distribution in retirement and an investment strategy chosen for their client’s time horizon. Yet, these fall far short in comparison to the full comprehensive financial plan that you would expect from a fee-based financial planner.
If I Engage in Financial Planning, Will I have to Change from My Current Advisor and/or Investments?
Although this question does occasionally get asked, I find it interesting and here’s why: If your current advisor had answers to your questions and you were confident in your current plan, then why would you be seeking my advice? Chances are, if you have concerns about your investment portfolio, your instincts are correct.

The most obvious question for a retirement planner is, “How do you know when you're able to retire?” The short answer is, when you are absolutely certain that you will have enough income to cover your monthly expenses, until the day you die. And if you know all of that, it’s simple, right?
Does McBeath Financial Group Sell Annuities?
As an investment advisor, I’m often asked, even before a first appointment, if I sell annuities. Although I absolutely do have insurance products, including certain annuities available as financial vehicles, I really want to say, “I don’t SELL anything!” That’s because, I provide solutions based upon an individual’s current situation, needs and goals.
Why Hire a Professional Financial Planner When The Employer Provides the Service for Free?
The obvious question is, “Why would anyone pay for a service if they can get the same thing for free?” And the simple answer is, the service provided by an employer sponsored financial services company is NOT even close to being the same! What’s more, the difference, and more importantly what’s NOT provided by a free service, can end up being much more costly.
